Work experience blog.

Our names are Harrison and Ruby and we are at Shaws in order to gain a sense of what it is like to work in a small business. We are working together as part of a work experience course as we have just left school after completing GCSE exams.

We are full of the joys of summer. Spending time with family and friends at BBQ’s, creating picnic food, doing what we enjoy the most eating and drinking!! Oh and a little singing …. Sound of Music style!!

Full of rustic charm coupled with modern ingredients, we are loving her twist on this classic dish using not one but two of our products.

HOW MANY MINI EGGS IN A JAR COMPETITION TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. The promoter is: Shaws (Huddersfield) Ltd (company no. 73258) whose registered office is at Shaw Park Office Centre, Silver Street, Huddersfield, HD5 9AF.
2. The competition is open to residents of the United Kingdom aged 16 years or over except employees of Shaws (Huddersfield) Ltd and their close relatives and anyone otherwise connected with the organisation or judging of the competition.
3. There is no entry fee and no purchase necessary to enter this competition.
4. By entering this competition, an entrant is indicating his/her agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.
5. Route to entry for the competition is by commenting on the competition posts on social media channels Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
6. Only one entry will be accepted per person. Multiple entries from the same person will be disqualified.
7. Closing date for entry will be Monday 17^th April 2017 at 18:00. After this date the no further entries to the competition will be permitted.
8. No responsibility can be accepted for entries not received for whatever reason.
9. The rules of the competition and how to enter are as follows:

Guess how many mini eggs have been collected and placed in the jar. Leave your answer as a comment. Winners will be picked from the actual guess or nearest guess. In the event of a number of correct guesses winners will be picked at random from these.

10. The promoter reserves the right to cancel or amend the competition and these terms and conditions without notice in the event of a catastrophe, war, civil or military disturbance, act of God or any actual or anticipated breach of any applicable law or regulation or any other event outside of the promoter’s control. Any changes to the competition will be notified to entrants as soon as possible by the promoter.
11. The promoter is not responsible for inaccurate prize details supplied to any entrant by any third party connected with this competition.
12. The prize is as follows: The prize is a jar of Shaws Caramelised Onion Chutney or similar and a small bag of Mini Eggs. The prize is as stated and no cash or other alternatives will be offered. The prize is not transferable and only five are available and we reserve the right to substitute any prize with another of equivalent value without giving notice.
13. Winners will be chosen: by correct guess. If a number of correct guesses are made then at random by a person picking names out of a flat cap.
14. The winner will be notified by direct message within 5 days of the closing date. If the winner cannot be contacted or does not claim the prize within 2 days of notification, we reserve the right to withdraw the prize from the winner and pick a replacement winner.
15. The promoter will request a delivery address in the UK mainland for the prize to be delivered to.
16. The promoter’s decision in respect of all matters to do with the competition will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
17. By entering this competition, an entrant is indicating his/her agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.

Shaws have recently revamped the packaging of their Everyday Range of chutneys. Including a picture and signature of the first managing director – Walter Shaw – on the back label to show their 128 year heritage.

They have highlighted that the product is gluten free and included how best to use the product in your kitchen. Their most innovative change is to include a “talking” lid.

You’ve met the oldies so now here’s a peek at cheerful Norman. The only son of Mr and Mrs Pickles, he’s like a big bite of Yorkshire pudding filled with caramelised onion chutney….sometimes you know you’ve eaten more than you should! Norman gets up to all sorts of trouble, leaving Mr Pickles scratching his head and Mrs Pickles in despair. Many a time you’ll hear “what’s our Norman being doing now?”  and with a cheerful grin and a cheeky wink he generally gets away with mischief!

Mrs Pickles, better known as Nelly within her social circles, loves her arts and crafts when she is not helping Mr Pickles in the kitchen developing his chutneys and relishes. She is proper proud of Walter and all he has achieved, when she takes his products t’ sample at the WI or her ‘Knit and Natter’ group.

Getting to know Nelly was lovely as we asked her a few questions.
