You’ve met the oldies so now here’s a peek at cheerful Norman. The only son of Mr and Mrs Pickles, he’s like a big bite of Yorkshire pudding filled with caramelised onion chutney….sometimes you know you’ve eaten more than you should! Norman gets up to all sorts of trouble, leaving Mr Pickles scratching his head and Mrs Pickles in despair. Many a time you’ll hear “what’s our Norman being doing now?” and with a cheerful grin and a cheeky wink he generally gets away with mischief!
The hardest thing in the world for Norman to do is take off his Huddersfield Star Wheeler cycling top so it can be washed. Many a time he can be seen cycling off into the distance shouting “laters peeps, I’m off to see a man about a dog” leaving a worried looking Mrs Pickles and a wry smile on Mr Pickles face.
So you can get to know “our Norman” a little better we asked him to participate in #PQT, Pickles Question Time. At first he said “not on my Nellie”, his mother said “don’t be so cheeky!” and so Norman had to agree.
Hold on to your flat caps and here goes…Norman Pickles Question Time
Q: What is your favourite Shaws product?
I love Caramelised Onion Chutney. It’s really yummy and I sometimes take a jar to give to my friends….but you’d better not tell my dad that bit!
Q: How do you eat it?
Doh! with a spoon out of the jar of course…how else would you eat it??? Ooh better not mention that bit to my mum she sort of insists we do it proper with a plate and everything.
Q: Where is your favourite picnic spot?
Well, when I’m out and about on my bike I love climbing the road up out from Digley Reservoir. It makes you breathe really hard and best of all you can free wheel all the way down to the bottom again at super fast speed. Right down at the bottom there is a place with picnic benches and everything and I fair like to stop and eat me sarnies there. You should try it, its great! There’s always loads of sheep around too…they’re always trying to eat the chutney from my sandwiches!
Q: What do you do when your not eating chutney?
Well then I’m delivering it of course! Me dad makes me put panniers on me bike. I don’t mind cos it’s good training for me getting up that hill out from Digley res!
Q: What’s your favourite crisp flavour?
Er, probably Beefy, but I quite like…no, but yes it’s Beefy.
Q: What do you enjoy most about Huddersfield?
That’s easy, its the spectacular roads and Pennine hills, proper great for cycling on. Climb over Holme Moss is fantastic, did you know it’s been on a stage of the Tour de France? We went up for t’day to watch it.
Q: What can’t you live without?
My Planet X bike! I fancy havin a go at that there cyclocross racing too, do you think I should ask me dad for a bike for that? And there’s mountain biking, perhaps me sister Mollie might want a bike that I could borrow for that….I also like sweets but I’m not right fond of girls. Our Mollie is ok though.
Q: Tell us a joke….
Why can’t a bicycle stand on its own?
Because its two tyred!
Ha ha do you get it?……its too tired…. Well, it makes our Mollie laugh.
And a final word from Norman….
Its been grand having a natter, make sure you get back t’blog next week to find out all about me sister Mollie. She can be a bit girly but she sometimes makes a good stand in as a stoker on me tandem when I’m delivering chutney shaws1889.com/whats-new/
