Our founder, George Shaw and family.

It’s a team effort that ensures we make the tastiest products for our customers to eat. From the person creating the delicious new recipes to the person packing the products for delivery, everyone counts. We see our team as a family, making delicious products for your family to enjoy.
Our Chairman and the Great Great Grandson of our founding father George Shaw. That makes him 5th generation Shaws family! You will not be surprised to see him helping out at Shaws where ever he is needed from Boardroom to factory…..and in his spare time he loves to walk in the Pennine hills around Huddersfield.
Richard became Managing Director in 2020. He loves numbers, sports and making sure the team are all one big happy family. Having started his role at the same time as the pandemic he has provided a steadying hand on the tiller to steer Shaws through these difficult times.
Jim has grown up with Shaws! As a small boy he came to the pickle factory with his dad Terence and showed a lively interest in all things mechanical. He looks after the site making sure everything turns when it should and we get the products out to our gorgeous customers.
Annie joined the business in 2018 as a graduate trainee and is now our Operations Supervisor. As sixth generation Shaw, she is preserving the family tradition. Ably assisting in the smooth running of the factory. Her passion is ensuring all our lovely products match the high standards our customers expect.
The fabulous factory team who take great pride in their work.
Cooking and packing with great skills and a smile to keep you supplied with delicious products.
Shaws Huddersfield has seen many changes over the decades but one thing is engrained within our very core. We believe in delivering proper tasty products of the highest quality to our lovely customers and, in true Yorkshire fashion, at a fair price!
George Shaw founded the company at Shaws Relish Works, Fitzwilliam Street, Huddersfield as General Merchants and Chemists . With his two sons, Walter and Vincent, they worked to build up the family business selling many things from relishes, jams and pickles to marrowfat peas and baking powder.
The business flourished and soon found itself short of space. The company bought much larger premises at Storths Mill on Wakefield Road, Walter became General Manager and later, his sons Norman and Malcolm joined the business. The move was a good one, as we’re still here today!
Martin, Norman’s youngest son, joined the business with a wealth of vinegar brewing experience and a passion for pickles. As his father and uncle, Malcolm, neared retirement Martin realised he would need help in running a growing company and by chance an article in the local paper caught his eye…
Terence Peace, a local lad, had just passed his Chartered Company Secretary exams with great success. Martin read about this in the paper and approached Terence to join the family firm. Two years later he became a director and this was the start of a wonderful friendship that continues today.
